The most
fascinating fact about a child’s mind is that it is so naive. Of course I am
still in my teen days and cannot make any bold statements about the maturity of
a mind but I for one know that I and most people of my age have lost the power
to see or feel the vibes of magic. The word magic when put forward in a casual
conversation immediately stimulates a serious of bizarre and surreal images in
our mind. What comes to our mind is a man dressed in black with eye liner for
make up doing the usual card trick. But that is not what magic is about and for
all I know the only one with the answer to what magic truly is, will be a
child.
Let’s go
back to when we were children, when we did not know that it was our father but
believed an overweight man from the North Pole dropped in our presents under
the Christmas tree. When the rainbow was God painting the sky not a phenomenon
caused due to splitting of white light. When the rain was a phenomenon caused when
the clouds cried and not because of a process explained in our science
textbook. This is the world we used to live in, a world of magic. What happened?
Why it all went away? When I ask myself that now the answer is quite simple ‘we
grew up’.
Science was
implanted into our minds and now everything which was magical was yet another
boring chapter in our books. The conflict between science and magic has been
debated over for ages. But if we look at
it neither favouring nor disregarding any of the sides it is simple, science
explains magic. It is merely an explanation of all the magical things created
by the lord and it is very accurate giving it a blunt finish because not
everyone likes perfect.
The
newspaper and other form of media are an open testimony to the fact that
throughout the world New Years Eve was a magical eve adorned with firework,
people singing drinking and merrily dancing. But if instead of partying and
creating magic a man looks at the facts that clearly state that a New Year is
nothing but the earth completing one revolution around the sun then the magic
collapses.
So all I am
trying to convey is that we should let science prosper let this world develop
but at the same time never forget that this world is filled with magical stuff
and we are its magicians.
